Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP) are trained specialist nurses. They have undertaken additional medical education in order to provide advanced nursing care and to prescribe medication. ANP's can provide treatment and advice for many problems for which you may have seen a doctor for in the past. Their main areas of expertise are in the management of common illnesses and long term conditions. The ANP can assess and examine you, make diagnosis and provide advice and treatment including a prescription if required. They can make referrals to hospital doctors or health care professionals and admit patients into hospital when necessary.
Our Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be available every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Routine appointments are also available if you prefer to book in advance.
Reception Team
The reception staff assist in the efficient day-to-day running of the practice and support the services we provide. When you telephone the surgery the receptionist will ask you for a few details. Our receptionists are trained and very competent to provide care navigation and will ask you some questions about the reason for your appointment request. These enquires are so that we can help you in the most appropriate way. Receptionists will follow protocol and will not make clinical decisions based on the information that you provide.
Strict confidentiality is maintained by all staff on all matters relating to the health and personal circumstances of our patients. The reception staff are here to help you, but their job is very demanding and they are often very busy, so please be patient.

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice, such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises, equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GP's and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

They are able to bring relevant issues to the attention of the GPs and if required are also able to undertake medication reviews and to adjust medication. Community Midwives
To contact the midwife, please call 028 40 623306. If you have recently found out that you are pregnant, you can self-refer to the community midwives by collecting a self-referral form from our reception team, or you can download the form yourself, using the link found in Clinics and Self-Referral options.
District Nursing Team:
Community/District nursing teams provide valuable care in or close to people's homes, who are in need of nursing care and who are unable to travel to the surgery.
Their expert leadership, clinical skills and knowledge enables them to support people to manage their long term conditions and maximise their independence. This in turn can prevent their admission into hospital and enable them to be discharged more quickly.
Providing complex care and supporting families, community and district nurses work in people's homes, in primary care settings, care homes and clinics. They also provide outreach services to those who may not have a secure home.
Please telephone the surgery on 028 3888 1225 in the first instance so if appropriate, we can refer you onto the district nursing team.
